Learn software engineering by shipping real projects, not watching slides.

SYJ EDUCATE is a free, open-source curriculum in AI engineering, backend systems, databases, cybersecurity, OSINT, automation, and SaaS architecture — built entirely around production-grade codebases you can run, break, and redeploy.

Learning tracks

Nine tracks. Every one ships a working system.

Each track pairs a structured curriculum with real repositories — no toy to-do apps.

AI Engineering

advanced

Build retrieval-augmented generation pipelines, agent orchestration, and evaluation harnesses on real datasets.

Why SYJ EDUCATE

Built differently, on purpose

Production-grade only

No to-do apps. Every project mirrors a real system you'd ship to users, complete with tests and deployment steps.

Zero cost, forever

MIT-licensed and free to use, fork, and redistribute. No paywalled modules, no "pro tier" bait-and-switch.

Built by a solo founder, in public

Every track is derived from real products shipped under the SYJ brand — including the mistakes, rewrites, and fixes.

Runs on constrained hardware

Curriculum favors zero-native-compilation, single-file, and CDN-based approaches — the same constraints of building on Termux.

Roadmap

Where the curriculum is headed

The roadmap is sequential and versioned like the rest of the project — see the full detail on the Roadmap page.

1 Shipped

Core tracks launched

AI Engineering, Backend, Database, Frontend, Cybersecurity, and OSINT tracks published with full project repositories.

2 In progress

Industry project library

Domain-specific builds across healthcare, agriculture, logistics, retail, and finance — mapped to real SYJ products.

3 Planned

Community mentorship program

Structured code review and pairing for contributors working through advanced tracks.

4 Planned

Certification-style project badges

Verifiable, non-commercial completion badges tied to merged pull requests, not multiple-choice quizzes.

From the community

Learners building real things

"The OSINT track was the first course that showed me how the tools actually connect — not just a list of definitions."

Community contributor
OSINT track, cohort 2

"Shipping a real FastAPI service in week two, instead of week eight, changed how fast I actually learned backend engineering."

"It's rare to find a free curriculum that treats database engineering as seriously as AI engineering. This one does."

Open source philosophy

Curriculum as a public repository, not a product funnel

SYJ EDUCATE is released under the MIT License. Anyone can fork the curriculum, adapt it to their own cohort, or contribute a new project back to the main repository.

MIT License

Full commercial and personal reuse rights, with attribution appreciated but not required by law.

Open contributions

Pull requests are welcomed for new lessons, bug fixes, translations, and entirely new tracks.

Public issue tracker

Report unclear lessons, broken project starters, or outdated dependencies directly on GitHub Issues.

Transparent roadmap

Every planned track and feature is visible on the Roadmap page before it ships.

How a project is structured

Every project follows the same production shape

01 · clientNext.js / React / plain HTML
02 · apiFastAPI service layer
03 · dataPostgreSQL / SQLite
04 · shipDocker + CI/CD to production
Latest releases

Recently shipped to the curriculum

v1.4.0

Agriculture industry project

A farm labour management build mirroring a real EU-market MVP, covering scheduling, compliance, and reporting.

v1.3.0

API hacking lab, part II

Broken authentication and IDOR labs against a deliberately vulnerable FastAPI reference service.

v1.2.0

OSINT tooling walkthrough

Integrating Shodan, VirusTotal, and AbuseIPDB into a single reconnaissance reporting pipeline.
